Clear-Flow™ Solids Contact Clarifier System

Hi-Tech's Clear-Flow™ units employ proven recycle solids contact principal for highly efficient flocculation, sedimentation, and clarification in a single compact basin. Solids contact units are widely used for the removal of turbidity for lime softening, and for chemical coagulation in municipal and industrial applications.

The system consists of a sequential flow, entering first in a rapid mix stage, followed by floc aggregation and precipitate recycling, and finally clarification.

The system utilizes a concentric drive unit and mixer combination (shown above).
The slow speed, large diameter impeller recirculates large quantities of fresh precipitate through the recirculation drum, achieving superior solids and complete chemical reaction. The formulation of settleable floc particles occurs in the large, slow mixing reaction cone. An automatic sludge discharge system maintains an optimal solids volume along the clarifier bottom for efficient solids contact withing the mixing zone.

The throughput follows a spiraling downward path to the outlet under the edge of the skirt. That is followed by circumferential, vertical rise clarification - Free of density currents and short circuiting, making possible an unusually clear overflow and dense underflow in an easily controlled, hydraulically and chemically stable system. As the flow passes upward, the decreasing upflow velocities of the floc particles cause dynamic separation of the solids from the treated water.

Radial launders provide uniform effluent discharge while maintaining the upflow pattern. The radial launders are available with v-notches or submerged orifices.

Sedimentation Basins
In addition to the Clear-Flow™solids contact system, Hi-Tech offers a complete line of conventional water treatment clarifiers for use in pre-sedimentation, final sedimentation, and filter backwash sedimentation.

All Hi-Tech clarifiers are designed and constructed with the specific application in mind. Drive units are accurately sized to ensure proper torque loads and protection against overloads. Every Hi-Tech mechanism is designed to withstand twice the continuous operating torque of the drive unit.

Cross Flow Basins
The cross flow basin (shown below) utilizes (4) 64 ft. diameter Hi-Tech clarifiers. The units are constructed of carbon steel and coated with a special paint system formulated for use in potable water plants. The clarifier drive units use a food grade lubricant, therefore eliminating the risk of contamination of the treated water.

Flocculating Clarifiers
Hi-Tech offers a complete line of flocculating clarifiers for water treatment, in both bridge and pier supported styles. Optimum floc size can be achieved in the Hi-Tech clarifier by the use of carefully selected energy gradients, in combination with paddle style or impeller style mixers. These flocculators gently mix the entire floc chamber and maximize contact of the destabilized particulate. This results in a settleable or filterable floc particle that improves equipment performance and plant effluent quality.
